Yes, we will email you contracts that also let us know about your dog’s background and living situation. These forms must be filled out before dropping your dog off for any daily boarding, Board and Train Program, or before we arrive at your private training lesson. If you are unable to fill these contracts out online, you are able to fill them out when you arrive to drop off your dog or before we get our lesson underway.
Immunization records that are up to date which can be emailed from your vet to info@apk-9.com , and any medication your dog may need to take while with us (heartworm, flea and tick preventatives and other prescribed medications, etc.). Please bring a regular flat-style collar along with your county dog license and rabies tag. Please bring enough food to last your dog’s stay, plus one additional week. EXAMPLE: If your dog is enrolled in our Novice Board & Train Program, please bring four (4) weeks’ worth of food.
All dogs are required to be up to date on Canine Distemper, Hepatitis/ Adenovirus Type 2, Leptospirosis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus, Bordetella (within six months), Canine Influenza (both strains: H3N2 & H3N8), and Rabies. These vaccines are required to help prevent the possibility of your dog becoming ill. Please remember, vaccines only create a resistance to your dog becoming ill, not completely making them immune to all common communicable diseases that your dog may come into contact with. Although board and train programs and daily boarding are run through our downtown facility, we do take walks around the neighborhood, to parks, go on field trips to pet-friendly stores, and can not guarantee the total cleanliness of those environments. Boarding dogs will not go on field trips unless authorized by you for refresher training sessions.
Food and water bowls, blankets/towels (bedding), and toys are not needed. This ensures that no outside contaminants are brought into our facility. All these items are provided by ALL PURPOSE K-9 LLC and are sanitized daily.
We will notify you if your dog is running low on food. If this happens, you may drop off food, or we can go buy the type of food needed for your dog. If ALL PURPOSE K-9 LLC is required to purchase food for your dog, you will be required to reimburse the company for such cost.
Yes, all training dogs get multiple sessions a day, every day.
No. Visits can induce unnecessary stress on your dog. We need your dog to be completely focused so that he or she can achieve the best results possible.
Yes. You will receive an update by phone every week that your dog is in our care. If you are unavailable for phone calls, we can accommodate by sending you an email that you provide us. Please know that no news is considered good news.
If you are unable to reschedule or decide not to and you want to cancel your dog’s training, all retainer fees are non-refundable. Any paid balance, that has yet to be serviced, will be refunded. If you reschedule, your deposit will not be forfeited.
Any age is a good age! Remember, the sooner you can teach, the better. Starting with a clean slate is easier than teaching behaviors to a dog that has been unruly for quite some time. Another thing to remember is that training will not change genetics. If your dog is hyper, you will receive a hyper dog in returning home – he or she will perform your directions when cued to do so. This will assist you in managing your dog’s behavior going forward. Puppies and dogs who are 5 months old or older may participate in our Novice Board and Train Program , provided they are up to date on all immunizations. Our Advanced Board and Train Program is geared for dogs who know basic, on-leash behaviors and are one year of age or older.
Only during holiday periods. If you need to cancel your boarding reservation during a holiday period, you will forfeit the retention fee. During non-holiday periods, please call as soon as possible so that we may help get other clients in for boarding – we understand that life can be unpredictable.
No. Please bring your dog’s normal dietary needs. This includes any supplements and oral medication(s). This will help his or her transition from your home to our facility. We ask that you do not change your dog’s diet within 7 days of your dog’s boarding stay. Also, try not to feed them extras (items usually not included in their diet) before boarding, as this will usually result in your dog being stressed.
Yes! Please call ahead so that we can make sure we have time to show you around. Training field trips, private lessons, and daily operations are always underway. Please do not stop by, as we may be unavailable to answer your questions or give you a tour.
For liability and safety reasons, no. That’s not to say they can’t play with one another while it’s their exercise time. We ensure that all dogs in our care get plenty of play time – it’s great to help build a bond and reduce the possibility of having pent-up energy.
All oral and topical medications can be given or applied without a problem. We do not administer any shots at this time. Please bring the original packaging or prescription container so that we have all the needed information about the medication. Also, please provide us with any additional details that we may need to know about the medication(s).
If your dog has become ill and is contagious, please keep your dog home or with a caring family member, friend, or you may choose to board your dog at its primary veterinarian’s office. The safety of all dogs in our care is our main priority. If you need to reschedule a training program, please call ahead.
